Gaza Journalists Urges for Protection, End to Attacks on Media Workers

(MENAFN) The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate in the Gaza Strip organizes a protest on Sunday demanding international protection for reporters and calling for an end to what it describes as Israeli “genocide” against media workers during the ongoing conflict since October 2023, according to reports.

The demonstration coincides with World Press Freedom Day and takes place outside a solidarity tent set up by the syndicate in the courtyard of the destroyed Rashad al-Shawa Cultural Center in western Gaza City.

Journalists, local and international correspondents, and representatives from media and rights organizations participate in the rally, as stated by reports.

Protesters hold banners calling for protection of journalists, an end to targeted attacks, and guarantees for press freedom under what they describe as extremely dangerous conditions.

The conflict in Gaza is reported to have begun in October 2023 and has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and widespread injuries, including among women and children.

Despite a ceasefire said to be in place since October 2025, reports indicate that Israeli strikes and restrictions continue, further worsening humanitarian conditions in the enclave, where around 2.4 million Palestinians live, including large numbers of displaced people.
