Gaza Bleeds: Israeli Bombing Kills Over 100 Children Since Ceasefire
Speaking via video link from Gaza at a U.N. briefing on Tuesday, James Elder said the agency has documented the deaths of at least 60 boys and 40 girls during the fragile truce.
"Survival is still conditional. Whilst the bombings and shooting have slowed during the ceasefire, they have not stopped," he said.
Elder emphasized that the numbers only reflect cases with sufficient documentation, suggesting the true toll of Palestinian children killed is likely higher. He also noted that hundreds more have been injured.
Highlighting the devastating impact of two years of conflict on Gaza’s youngest residents, Elder called for wider access to humanitarian aid and a significant increase in medical evacuations.
Despite the ceasefire, Israel has continued near-daily attacks in Gaza, during which local health authorities report over 400 Palestinian deaths.
