Reporting on culture and lifestyle news in Palestine
Provided by AGP“We’re very concerned by these reports,” UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters during a daily press briefing. “First of all, from people who’ve been detained, but one only has to look at the video posted by an Israeli minister, which shows the humiliating treatment of the people who were detained by the flotilla.”
Dujarric said individuals who remain in custody “need to be released and sent home,” while also stressing that “people who were responsible for that treatment should be held to account.”
Earlier this week, Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, a key figure in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s governing coalition, shared footage on social media appearing to mock pro-Palestinian activists after their detention by Israeli forces in international waters. The video showed detainees with zip ties on their hands and kneeling on the ground.
The Global Sumud aid flotilla announced Tuesday that Israeli authorities had seized all 50 vessels participating in the convoy.
